GOOD QUESTIONS

RV cushions, answered.

The questions full-timers and weekenders ask us most.

  • Do RV dinette cushions still fold flat for the bed conversion?

Yes — that's the whole point. We pattern dinette cushions in matched pairs sized to drop into the bed-conversion frame without gaps, and we keep the foam height consistent so the sleeping surface is level. Tell us in the order notes that it's a convertible dinette and we'll double-check seam placement so the conversion zip lines up cleanly. If your existing set works for the bed, send those measurements and we'll match them.

  • Can you make odd-shaped wedge cushions?

Wedges, trapezoids, L-shapes with one curved side, that one weird angle near the bathroom door — yes, all of it. Lay craft paper down on the bench, trace the outline with a pencil, and photograph it next to a tape. We'll pattern from your trace and confirm the dimensions before cutting. Wedges and other non-rectangular shapes don't cost more — they just take a bit longer in the cutting room.

  • What thickness should I order for a dinette?

Three inches is the RV standard and what most factory cushions ship at. Four inches feels noticeably plusher and is great if your dinette doubles as a daily lounge — but check the bed-conversion gap before going thicker, because too much depth and the conversion won't sit flat. For seat cushions only, four works fine; for cushions that also become the bed, three is the safer choice.

  • What if a measurement is missing or unclear?

Send everything you have and we'll fill the gaps. Most often it's the seat-back angle on a wedge or the depth at the inside corner of an L-shape. We'll either ask for one specific photo (taken with a ruler in frame) or hop on a 15-minute video call to walk through it together. We'd rather pause production than guess — both are free, and they save remakes.

  • Are there any weight or thickness limits?

None imposed by us, but practical ones for the rig. Our 1.8 lb HD foam is roughly 30% lighter than 2.5 lb residential foam, and on a full dinette set you'll save several pounds — meaningful when towing. Most dinettes top out at about 4 inches before the bed conversion stops working. If you want a deeper lounge cushion that isn't a bed, you can go up to 6 inches without issue.

  • Which fabric is best for an RV interior?

Crypton, Revolution and Aquaclean blends are our top three for RVs — all have stain-release finishes, all clean with water and a damp cloth, and all hold up to dogs, kids and the occasional spilled coffee on a switchback. Avoid pure linen and bouclé in heavy-use rigs; they look beautiful for two seasons and tired by year three. Order free swatches and rub them with damp coffee — that's our in-house test.
