GOOD QUESTIONS
The questions designers and homeowners ask us most.
Yes — and a lot of customers do, because they already have plump pillow forms or want to refresh a sofa cheaply. Pick cover-only at checkout, tell us the cover dimensions you want, and we'll cut and sew to those numbers. We always recommend ordering covers one inch smaller than your insert (so 18-inch insert, 17-inch cover) — it's the trick that keeps corners plump rather than dog-eared. Our default sizing follows that rule unless you tell us otherwise.
Anything you measure for. Our most-requested sizes are 18 × 18 (sofa standard), 20 × 20 (slightly oversize), 22 × 22 (statement scale), 14 × 22 lumbar, 12 × 24 long lumbar, and 8 × 30 bolster. For floor pillows we go bigger — 26 to 36 inches square. The configurator accepts any custom dimension; we'll cut it. There's no upcharge for non-standard sizes, just a different fabric yardage calculation.
Both, and worth getting right because the edge sets the whole tone. Self-fabric piping (same cloth as the body) reads quietly tailored. Contrast piping reads designed and intentional — a navy pillow with cream piping looks dressed-up, a cream pillow with navy piping reads classic English. A flat 2-inch flange edge (like a pillow border) reads modern and minimal. Choose in the configurator's extras step. Free, in any of these styles.
No — and this is the most common mistake. Order your insert one inch larger than your cover. So a 17-inch cover gets an 18-inch insert. The slight overstuff fills the corners (instead of leaving them dog-eared and limp) and gives the pillow that plump, hotel-quality look. Down and down-blend inserts work best because they compress without lumping. We size our optional inserts this way automatically; if you bring your own, follow the same rule.
No — we use a hidden invisible zipper in the back seam, set into a separate panel so it doesn't sit against your skin or scuff your insert. Zipper colour is matched to your fabric (or piping, if you prefer it visible as a design detail). The cover comes off cleanly for cleaning or fabric refreshes. Some customers prefer no zipper at all (sewn shut on all four sides) — tell us in the order notes if that's your preference.
Yes — and it's how a lot of designer-led projects work. Ship the cloth to our atelier (we'll send the address with order confirmation), tell us how many pillows and which sizes, and we'll pattern, cut and sew. There's a small handling fee per cover to cover the inspection and cutting. Message the atelier first so we can confirm the fabric weight and yardage are right for what you have in mind.
Ten to fourteen business days from order confirmation, slightly faster than our cushion lead time because pillows take less workshop time. Pillows in stocked fabrics finish on the shorter end; pillows in special-order or non-stock cloth take longer because we need to receive the cloth first. You'll see a confirmed ship date in your order email, and we'll update you when it enters the cutting room.
